Where Do I Vote
Can someone advise me where I vote this time. (Never voted before)
I live near Burnley Road (Presume Peel Ward), I think the card mentioned something about a methodist church or something but unfortunatly it was binned. Also is there anywhere I can see who is standing in this area? TIA |

Re: Where Do I Vote
These are the candidates Mr D, presume you are Accrington South :-
Lancashire County Council: Elections The LCC site does not show the polling stations (unless I, myself, cannot find) ... feel this would be useful to have there. Somebody here will definintely know, so be patient until someone answers, or ask a neighbour ...:D |

As for who is standing in the election. There are two elections on the 4th June. The County Council elections, but also the European Elections are being held on that day. If you need any more information just let me know. |

That must be the place, allthough I live on the other side (bad side) of burnley road, I believe they are still the same. European Elections, oh didnt know that. Shows how much attention I pay to this type of thing. Quote:
So I have started looking into it more. Even though its quite confusing to me at the moment. As now I have to find out who to vote for. |

Re: Where Do I Vote
Mildly amusing story.
Last night a knock on the door - i opened it - girl said 'oh, it's you, i didn't know you lived here, oh well, i won't waste my spiel on you'. She then left without handing over a leaflet. I caught a glimpse of a red leaflet in her hand as she walked away and coupled with the fact that I saw Ian Ormerod knocking on other doors nearby I'm pretty sure she was Labour. But then, I wondered what she meant. Does she think I'm a sure thing (think again) or does she think I spend more time talking to Tories these days that I'm a lost cause (again, think again). Answers on a postcard please. :D But on a slightly serious note - now I haven't got the Labour group's leaflet, so if someone could send me one I'd appreciate it please. As for the Tories, they've long since been avoiding my door so I don't know what they're standing for either. I think I'm going to be the least informed person in the borough if everyone keeps avoiding me. |
Re: Where Do I Vote

Gayle,
My Mother-In-Law lives on Rhyddings Street and WAS a PB fan but since he found out who she was he doesn't even leaflet her now, pity, he lost himself a vote there !!!! (and I didn't even need to canvass !!!!!!!) |
Re: Where Do I Vote
Thank you for your kind offer Andrew. I'm sure it would be unbiased!!!!! ;)
But if you don't mind, i'd like to receive the leaflets for myself. |

Re: Where Do I Vote
I was up Ossy the other night canvasing for Dorothy, and I was told by one Tory supporter that she keeps a picture of P.B in her garden.
Apparently they are very good for keeping the cats away. That's what she told me anyway. |
Re: Where Do I Vote
i've always knocked on everyones doors while out canvassing ... even councillors of the other parties door ... why ... because even though they may be labour/conservative/lib dem ... the person who is answering the door may not be ... it doesnt go for everyone in the house that they will vote for them. And i know that for fact .... my dad was a tory ... my mum was an inbetweener tho in her later years she changed her mind .. my sister a labour supporter ... so whoever answered our door when i was a kid got different answers from whoever it was who answered the door ...
|
Re: Where Do I Vote
Oh and when ive been out canvassing one year ... a house in helmshore .. one window had a conservative poster in one window and a labour poster in the other ...:D

Re: Where Do I Vote
Jaysay,
The irony is that she was one of his biggest fans !!!! Its only when he started acting like an idiot that she stopped voting for him. She's one strong lady my Mother-In-Law and it'd take more than me to change her mind. So I suppose you could say that he, by assuming she was Labour, indirectly canvassed for us !!!!! There's a first time for everything I suppose !!!!!!! I always knock on every door too, just because they might not vote for you doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to them, you are still there to represent them. |
