Doug wants again….Street Scenes this time

I am looking for period photographs of the following streets:

Earl Street. Clayton le Moors - c1900.

Stanley Street. Accrington - c1918-1950s.

Williams Street. Accrington - c1900-1920.

Canal Street. Church - c1930s

Pitt Street. Accrington – c1900-1910.

I have seen the excellent photo that Atarah displayed in the Pitt St thread. I am waiting to see if I can get a file copy from the Observer.

Subject to copy right freedom; these street scenes, if they can be traced will be used to illustrate a family history. I would grateful to anyone who can direct me to any private photographic collections that may be of help.

Hi Alan, It’s just that I want to build up a family history for my lad and those that follow, It’s been hard just getting back to the mid 1800s.

My great, great grand father and my grand father lived on Earl Street back in 1878, just before my grandfather wed and move to Pitt Street. I’m looking for period photos just to illustrate the difference between then and now. Where the houses survive and to give my lad an ideal what a true mill town looked like..
