Jon Anderson - Lead singer of prog rock band ' YES '
 

Does anyone in the Accrington area remember Jon Anderson who was born in the town in 1944 ? Jon played in a band with his Brother, Tony, called THE WARRIORS who did concerts in Lancashire in the early to mid 1960s. Jon went on to form prog rock band YES. Additionally, does anyone know if any of Jon's relatives still live in Accrington ? Many thanks !

Hi, i was in the Warriors with john and tony, they lived on Norfolk Street, off Avenue Parade, and as far as i know their brother Stuart, still lives on Royds Avenue, in Accrington. :theband:

Haven't made my mind up whether you two are taking the Michael yet, or some unknown motives ... however have our own Michael to take care of you if you are.:)

In the meantime ... Cosmic... just type in 'The Warriors' in the search facility .. will bring you up some interesting reading on them. ;)

Stuart does still live in Accrington. Tony is a pastor in a church on the Isle of Wight

Wammy knows Tony very well, having at one time played together, also in the reformed Los Bravos, they lived in Mallorca for a while then!

Thank you for this. Jon mentioned Tony being a preacher at a recent solo concert in Bilston. I recall Stuart being at a YES concert a few years back. I think Jon was a ball boy at the original Accrington Stanley in the 1950s. He still mentions them at concerts. Jon was very ill last year but glad to say he has recovered and is currently doing a few solo dates in Europe although it remains to be seen whether he will return to YES. Thank you all again for this fascinating information about Joh(h)n and The Warriors. If any of you are interested he has recently written a song called ' Tony and me ' which is about his time in the Warriors with his Brother. It can be viewed on YOUTUBE from a concert he did in Bilston on 3rd July 2009. Thanks again everyone for your time....

That's right, he was a ball boy at the Stanley. We use to play football together when we were kids. He lived just around the corner from me.
