What a strange thread this has metamorphosised into ... however, mmm .. football ...gotta' be careful here what you say .. :rolleyes:

All sports are sort of ridiculous really whether be golf (getting this ball into a little hole hundreds of yards away), motor sports (only as good as the engine), snooker (balls into a little bit of netted drop). Well, you know what I mean. Only sport I have any admiration for is Athletics ... at least is a man/woman out there on his own ...pursuing excellence of the human physique.

Re: football .. gotta' be in the mire for this one, but cannot understand why women follow this sport... think most take it up to please their partners/male children; others . well, just cannot understand what is the thrill of shouting, bawling on the terraces of a Saturday afternoon .. weird :confused:

Maybe some of them Jaysay ... :D Not knocking it really, just couldn't understand it. Everyone to their own though. I hate men in shorts.

Just wondered Lancsdave ... do footballers ever get tested for drugs .. or would steroids and such like not be of any 'help' to them in their sport ?

Yes they do, I think several are tested at each match and they sometimes get tested at the training grounds. There was a goalkeeper recently banned for it.

I guess they aren't as reliant on improving physical fitness as athletes, it's more technique these days. The ability to dive and roll around doesn't need drugs :D
