Alternatives to Halloween in Accy?

Hi all. We don't celebrate Halloween in our house and, with three young children, I don't want to stay in on Saturday night to be constantly interrupted by knocking on my door. Last year they got very upset and so I am looking for something else I can do with them instead.

Does anyone know of any alternatives in Hyndburn or whether there are any special offers on elsewhere that don't involve Halloween?

Hi - I know there is a special at bowling at vue accrington - £12.50 for
the hour including chips and dips. Its a halloween theme but not all are
in fancy dress.

It is a difficult one isn't it Jeni ... all venues where children are welcome are geared to Halloween on Saturday night.

The only item in 'What's On', seems to be:-

5.30 p.m >> 7.30p.m. Light night party for 4 to 11 year olds with games, crafts, pizza and light trail at Union Road Church, Oswaldtwistle.£2 each. No costumes.

Wonder what a light trail is ?

Thank you both for your replies.

Think I will avoid bowling as still too Halloween themed for my younger children.

However, Light Night sounds good as I live in Ossy. Thanks Katex.

easiest way to get rid of Halloween scroungers and keep them away is to hand out children sized toothbrushs, word soon gets round which houses to avoid .

You didn't give us three guesses so I'll use all of mine in one, Durr, could it be Halloween based?

Just beware of christian 'indoctrination'
There was a time when representatives of this 'church' were doorknocking to gain members.
It made my sitting outside in the sun days unpleasant one summer.
They do get rather evangelical:rolleyes:

I don't know Less .. did cross my mind. Better check Jeni if Halloween is something you don't agree with.

Just posted what was in the Observer.
Thought maybe with being at a church, they may not agree with celebrating something like this either.

Maybe not - I got them to stop preaching to me by saying I was Pagan;)

A friend of mine goes to that church and have shown her this thread.

Believe it is called a "White Light" party and a light trail is a treasure hunt - light themed, not connected to the 'dark & scary' side to Halloween.

It is an alternative to Halloween for people who don't participate in Halloween and it is God based.

This is fine by me cos' I'm a Christian anyway.

Thank God a good Christian church has a good alternative to the occult influences on children

very sad that global used to be the house of God and now celebrates halloween, focusses on money and most social activities are centered round a bar.and they still say it is a church!!!The idea of Jesus ,tables and temple come to mind
