Would you be intrested in this?
 

I am thinking of starting an internet cafe that specialises in games.
for example you come in pay a fiver and you can play the games preinstalled on the systems (like world of warcraft or call of duty) for a couple hours or even reserve the computers and start a tournament for £50 (you can still come in and look up facebook while you drink a cup of coffe)

I think with the schools neer by it could be a good buisness
(just have to make sure the pcs don't get vandalised :enough:)

lock the pc's away under the table and only have the keyboard , mouse and monitor on display :)

run usb extention leads from teh pc so teh enthusiast can connect their own mouse and keybord that they feel comfortable playing with in a tournament.I used to play a lot of online gaming and was very fussy about my keyboard and mouse lol

theres a few shops neer rhyddings for rent I could get maybe 8 - 10 pcs in there. Im gonna have to look further into this little idea of mine :D

I think the idea of an internet cafe is now past its use by date.
Most homes have a pc now, and those that haven't will be getting a free gov issue laptop within a few years.

As a comparison - launderettes were proftable when families couldn't afford to buy their own washer, and now there are very few about (by comparison).

Going back to the original idea on this thread. I think any new and interesting ideas should be welcomed. Young people need somewhere safe to go and to hang out. So, a safe place like an internet cafe might be used.

I know most young people have their own pcs or laptops, but they also like to gather in groups.

If you could set it up relatively cheaply then it could be a success. Good luck.

Most town/city centres have internet cafes.I used them the odd time whilst working away in various parts of the country.The most successful(busy) ones seem to be in university towns and cities which have lots of immigrants and people living/working close by.Unfortunately Accrington is,nt one of these but the fact that there is,nt already one makes this a more of an attractive investment.Personally i dont think you,d have the custom.Most people with spare time through the week are unemployed for one reason or another and would just use the library computers for free,like im doing this very moment.And before anyone slates me for being a dole-dosser,this is the first time iv been out of work for years-due to ill health.Good luck

And Olly Welcome to the real world were people do get upset or offended, it's all part of lifes rich tapestry, part of the sharp learning curve you will have to venture along as you get on in your life. Given that library access is free then you'd have to have a very good setup with competitive pricing.

Dont make the drinks & food too expensive (food/drink is a must if you want to succeed) and make it
more of a cafe with net access - even wifi & you may get more trade.

You may also consider PS3/Xbox360 gaming with it too.

And you'd need a damn good internet connection & they are not cheap.

Im starting to think a gaming clan might be a better idea untill I can actuall legally open a buisness. I could charge monthly for membership (and access to the membes only facebook page/forum w/e) and restrict it to neerby residents

Whatever you do, if you have a brilliant idea, don't be stupid enough to put it out on the WWW until you have your idea up and running otherwise someone with alot more money than you will steal it.

There used to be an Internet Cafe in Infant Street, but it didn't do very well and soon closed down. I think its the same place where "Britters" cafe is now!
