Haha .. I pulled up that bit from the Gt. Harwood history site too. Even looked in Shurmer's guide of 1988, but not listed ... only Baggie's wine bar, which I think was on the other side ?

I know a lady of 82 who has lived almost across the road from the Co-op building in Glebe Street for many, many years with a most remarkable memory. If all else fails, will give her a ring.

No ... can't remember it at all Garinda, but was busy bring up a young lad about this time .. too busy earning a crust.

The Judge Walmsley in Billington was renowned fer "Chicken In Basket" in early/mid 60s. perhaps twas yon they went? tried it meself back then on recomendation n it was ace.:)

My local historian can't remember the two-word French name off the top of his head either but recalls it to be at the corner of Lower Fold and Church Street opposite youth club.

I should have a name by the end of today.

Wasn't that one called 'Tiffany - A Restaurant'? The proprietor was American I think.

Ya cashy the good old Judge was a great pub in the 60s, went in regularly as I was serving my time (that's apprenticeship Garinda:)) in Whalley, there was another did the old Chicken and Chips in a basket at Wiswell, but can't remember its name:confused:
