Re: Laptops in Hospitals
they wont like you plugging it in Shaz because it won't have been PAT tested by them and be on there register of portable electrical equipment

Yes I do. Like I said I can't understand the pre op with no op date. If the op is months away they will have to do another pre op. |

Just because you allow it doesn't make it legal, Portable Appliance testing was introduced to ensure that ALL devices that 'plug' into the mains no matter what their age are tested and a record of that test and a tested sticker must be applied in a prominent position on the device, on a regular basis, before it can legally be used. The above paragraph is a very, very, short version of the rules and reg's concerning electrical safety in the workplace. Please, Turkishdismay make sure of your facts before applying pinky to keyboard. |

You think wrong, it has to be done if someone is plugging it into the mains no matter what the circuit is. :( |

i told you what she said when i came out, she said it's usually within 2 weeks of the pre-op |
Re: Laptops in Hospitals
At Melbourne House I had to arrange a 'portable appliance check' every three months.
Some people sneaked in their own kettles. When discovered, they were pleasantly surprised to find that I could supply them with an official one with a table for its safe use. We didn't provide posh coffee machines like the LCC do. |
Re: Laptops in Hospitals
Anyway you wont need a visitor cos your not staying in.

Re: Laptops in Hospitals
when i wa sin hospital i had to have my xbox tested by their electritan but that was a good few years ago but i had a friend in hospital just last week and he had his mobile phone charger and laptop plugged in with no checks and no questions asked.
i personaly wuoldnt take it in anyway because of teh theiving scum that visit other people and besides you can get internet and tv for £3.00 for 12 hours or £10 for 3 days i think it was on tehir tvs that hang over your bed plus unlimited local calls to landline numbers the internet was pretty good for what it was but you can only have 1 page open at a time and the keybaord folds out of teh tv remote. uinlimited local calls apply to all 3 packages , i only mentioned two of them but there wa sa 2 day plan as well but i cant remember teh price |

cheers chick

Re: Laptops in Hospitals
The best thing to do is phone the ward and ask.
My bet is that they will not be too keen for you to have your laptop with you. a) it has got to be pat tested before you can plug it into their mains supply. b) it is an item of value, for which they will be responsible while you are in theatre/asleep/anaesthetised. Do you really need to take it? |
Re: Laptops in Hospitals
If your in only over night the Battery should be enough

That must have been after she cooked her own by sitting it on the bed and blocking the vent holes :D Most normal laptops struggle to do 2 hours before they die. |
Re: Laptops in Hospitals
this won't last over night, the battery on it is crap
|
Re: Laptops in Hospitals
I know, you said that when I was at yours the other week.
