Sky Digital Signal

Hi Everyone

Just wondered if anyone is having trouble with their sky digital reception?

Our picture keeps freezing and saying no satellite signal being received and signal strength and quality keep going up and down...we have tried to reboot the system but nothing seems to work we followed various instructions from the sky online help files too.

Signal strength is about 75% most of the time but sometimes drops to 0

Signal Quality flickers between 10% and 0

Lock Indicator OK for most of the time but sometimes says Not Locked

Anyone got any ideas? Any help would be appreciated :confused:

Thanks :)

I was have problems like that AccyRed, I have a sky maintenance contract, I called them and they came out last Thursday, it was a fault with the dish, the receiver bit in the middle was knackered, ain't had a problem since

If you want a replacement dish, I have one I don't use, but you will need a ladder to get it off the wall.

First guess would be your dish is out of line - the quality tends to be more important than the signal level.

Next would be LNB on the dish is faulty of maybe the cable.

LNB is a common prob that it needs replacing - my neighbours gone thro loads of em, tho if after the 12mnth warranty then it may cost for engineer to fix last i heard it was £60, a year back or so.

They did do a £60 come and and fix anything repair service. That's why I don't understand people who pay a maintenance contract for Sky systems. Some of these are not even with Sky directly and are in my opinions a con.

Hi Everyone :)

Thanks for all your replies :)

I had an someone come and look at it today and put a new LNB on which still didn't work properly...he charged us £20 & they were here for ages too... its working slightly better but still breaking up, in the end after much testing etc it was our sky box that was faulty and it turns out the dish wasnt much better either. So we decided to upgrade to Sky plus. We bought a dish and box off Accy market today and the guy is coming to fit it all tomorow. :)

Thanks again :)

I've had a maintenance contract with Sky Neil for many years and never regretted it, I've had my box replaced on numerous occasions and as I've said in an earlier post, only last week they installed a new dish receiver, that was within 24hours of making the call, its been worth every penny for me and my peace of mind
