found a stone floor in my kitchen - best way to clean it up
might sound daft but after 7 odd years living at our house we decided to rip up the kitchen floor out of noseyness - well after 50 odd years of the same floor tiles being down on top of floor tiles thanks to previous owner I got to the bottom and found the original stone flags - didnt really know what I was going to find but I am quite glad I did as they are all in perfect nick...problem I have now is best way to clean them up so they are as good as new - well I say new - as good as when they were first laid way back in the day..
and does anyone still have their flag stones in the their kitchen? if anyone has any ideas on cleaning then thanks.. |

Hubby says go to builders yard and get some brick cleaner, which is like an acid type stuff. He thinks it should clean the tiles and get the adhesive etc off them from the floor tiles.

It's to be hoped you have a wife with a strong back who doesn't mind getting down on her hands and knees every week to scrub them clean , good luck .

Washing Soda Is probably the safest way to go but does depend on the condition of the stone.
If all else fails sell them they are very expensive to buy. |

I would go into the Market Hall, GG .. they are restoring the original stone floor in there.
Just ask around and see what they are doing .. :) |
