The red brick NHS place is the Mount now, but both MargaretP and I recall the derelict wasteland site before that building, and obviously there had been a house there at one time because the gateposts were inscribed 'Ingledene' (we both think).

Was it not "Balls" way back in 50s? seem to remember a son called Gareth from yon, unless i'm getting me wires crossed.

I could be wrong Margaret...but I have a recollection that I have seen the name in that area or vicinity....and was heartened when you also thought the same.....it gave credence to my thoughts.

The original house on the wasteland has been called The Mount, thats why the NHS called their building The Mount!

The area of land occupied by that NHS building and its car park, is rather large for the site of one townhouse, maybe there were two.

No, it was a very large house, a mini mansion if you like.

Where did you find that info?

Re: Ingledene

I've always known it, probably through delving in Accy library. I am convinced there NEVER was an area known as Ingledene, and that this name would just have been a house name, carved on the two stone posts in front of a house. Many of the terraced houses on Whalley Road have a house name to them.
