I left school at 14, my first weeks wage was 17s-6d.
when I finished my apprenticeship at the age of 21, I was
on 9-8-6d.
Now you expect to be paid that an hour, phew.
As Cashy said you don't know your born.

Thats what I've put it in Pound Shillings and Pence if your from that era, then you should recognise how it was written 9-8s-6d.
Can't find the dammed pound symbol, its not where it should be.

Yes he had a daughter, Owd Wilcox lived somewhere in the Hornby St area, used to come to work on a push bike, one day I got off the bus at the junction of Fairfield St and Exchange St, and Wilcox wre riding along Fairfield St from Ossy, this were when it was a dirt road,
the daft owd beggar were weaving round the lamp posts, when he hit a rut and went over the handle bars, rammed his billycock down to his eyes, he were livid when he saw me stood there laughing me head off, he tried to make my life a misery for the rest of the day, always trying to fault my work, and when he couldn't he just got madder.
