experiences of job centre? ? ?
Hi everyone, wondered if I could benefit from people's experiences of the job centre on here.
My brother is in the process of being made redundant and was pretty surprised at the reception he got on popping in for advice. The advisor was very young and unable to answer any of my brothers questions. He was hoping to get pretty specialised advice regarding his situation but was only offered help with his CV which he could easily sort out himself. Does anyone know what sort of qualifications you need to be an advisor at the job centre? And can anyone tell me of a more positive experience, i.e. will he get better luck next time? |
Re: experiences of job centre? ? ?
The qualifications to be a clerical officer (in my time) were 5 GCE O levels.
Front line staff are at that grade level. You only get the staff you are willing to pay for and there will soon be fewer of them. |

if anyone wants to make a claim for anything now they have to go away and do it over the phone

Its been this way for years, personally I think this is the easiest way as you are only asked the relevant questions to your claim, I remember years ago trying to fill in one of the claim forms & having to keep going back down to the jobcentre & asking "do I need to fill this bit in." You can also fill in a lot of the claim forms online now www.direct.gov |

Try a recruitment agency as they do competences of things as I know. There are a lot in Lancaster by the water and they take in your CV. That is where you get specialist temp jobs. You cannot get a professional job by asking a job centre employee as the experience and jobsearch are yours.. It is up to you to find the job or put yourself in the hands of agencies. I know they do computer tests and interview you for work that comes in.
