woolworths music line
 

i was talking today with somone about how as kids we used to sit listening to the top 40 on a sunday recording songs we liked with our fingers hovering over the pause button hoping to cut out the D.J's voice at the end of the song.

This reminded me of a number you could ring on your house phone ran by woolworths that would play you what was at number 1 that week and you could listen to the song on the telephone.People looked at me liek i was stupid lol

does anyone else remeber the woolwrths music line from teh 80's it would have been?

i remember Dial-A-Disc, I think you dialled 16 or something like that. And the storyline, I can't remember the number but I definintely remember the service - BT used to have all kinds of weird and wonderful things you could ring up about 20 odd years ago

All records woolworths used to sell were on the "Embassy" label, which were real crap copies of major artists recordings, they were just wannabees n trash wi it.;)

I remember being in one of the side rooms in Rhyddings with a girl from my year waiting for the careers teacher( it was next to what was then the 5th year common room), and she knew how to "click" the receiver to dial the number. ( The phones were internal ones with no buttons on ). You also have to remember this was long before "tone dialling"! I was mightily impressed but she was well out of my league ( And I only had eyes for Amanda Barber back then! :D )

Yes, I remember Dial-a-Disc too. We used to ring from the one and only public telephone box in Hapton. There wasn't anywhere to go/do so this was a highlight then. Sad eh??? Brings back good memories though. :)
