New Lord Mayor.

The New Mayor for Hyndburn this year is Councillor Colette McCormack why is it then that the outgoing leader of the council has sent the name of Councillor Allah Dad to Buckingham Place to represent the Borough at the garden party. His name has been sent because he would have been the next mayor if Council leader Peter Britcliffe had retain the council leadership. Is this just sour grapes on his part and shows him in his true colours?

I just hope he gives Cllr. Dad his copy of my book, 'How To Eat Well in London For Under a Tenner'.

Does anyone really care who the mayor will be?

I have a question.

If Collette is the new mayor will her husband be the mayoress or will she be the mayoress and him the mayor?

My tiny brain cell is hurting thinking about it, it is easily confused and a lady mayor confuses it.

My question is this- "When was the name forwarded? Before or after P.B.s demise?

Some people do.

Some would sell their soul to the Devil, in order to fill that exalted office.

Colette will be the Mayor, John her husband will be the Mayor's Consort. Just out of interest, Colette will the first Ossy Mayor we've had for few years.

I have met her and spoken with her a few times but don't know her personally if you know what I mean. Why was she selected? Does she have a long and hard working history as a councillor?

Sadly not.

I voted for my fellow ward councillor (and good friend) John Broadley to be Mayor. John is the epitomy of everything that a hard working councillor should be and would have made an excellent Mayor. John and his wife Jean would have been a credit to the Borough of Hyndburn, as our first citizens, and to the town of Church. But now we have a Mayor who has besmirched the office by his behavior in attaining it.

This is a man who has been prepared to do anything to get a chain round his neck. I hope he is proud of having a sizable number of his fellow councillors vote against him becoming Mayor. I just hope that he isn't expecting too many councillors to attend his official 'Mayor Making' on Saturday 26 June, because I suspect he will rather disappointed.

Maybe he would like to post his views on this forum of what it feels like to sell your soul for 'thirty pieces of silver' or in this case a golden bauble.

Is your memory really that bad?

It all only happened last year.

As reported in the press...

Former Labour loyalist props up the Tories | Accrington Observer - menmedia.co.uk

An article I couldn't initially find, which therefore resulted in me reading the whole of the previously quoted thread.

Perhaps now we're a world centre of culture and art...especially in wool, we're going for city status.

Is there a list online of past Hyndburn Mayors? Sandra must have been Mayor in 2002/3 for the Queens Golden Jubilee. She was at Preston Guild Hall for the celebrations.
