Editing and Deleting Existing Posts

How do I go about doing this? I'm new to this game! I've seen that some posts have been altered. Hope someone can help out there.

Not certain, but I think there's a time limit after which they can't be changed.

There is a time limit, I believe it is 10mins after posting but i am sure someone will let you know if I am wrong!

You go back onto the thread and the bottom right hand of your post there should be a button next to the quote button saying "edit" just press that and away you go!!

They're right.

After you've posted, at the bottom of the box is an Edit button, which is there for five minutes or so.

If you use Post Reply, rather than Post Quick Reply, it allows you to preview what you're going to post, which can be useful in helping to spot mistakes.

I think the Edit button has a mind of it's own, and is a little timid

As soon as you see a glaring mistake you've made, it vanishes back ino it's little hidey-hole.

:D

I think it is 10 minutes yes. The reason for this is so you can correct mistakes you notice within 10 minutes but not alter your post later on. In the past some people had changed posts so that ones after theirs did not make sense.

If you want something changing after the 10 minutes you can always PM me and I can do it for you. This is a free of charge service from your friendly moderation team.

That means me because I am the only friendly one :D:D:D

Oh you are kind to us.

It's hard to reconcile that this is the same person who used to alter people's quotes, when posting, for comic effect.

:D:rolleyes::D

I liked it best when you made people speak in the chatroom, without them having to type, or having any control over what they said.

That was a skill.

:p:D:eek::D:p

Funny you should mention that G but I went on Facebook yesterday, and according to a post made by myself I'd watched a film on line in HD, the only trouble was I hadn't watched the film or even made the post in the first place:confused:

Change your facebook password and look which apps you have authorised in your account settings and remove any you dont use or want.

Some apps will post things on your wall for you.

Just a suggestion but why not have it so edits don't have a time limit, but posts cannot be edited once another post has been made on the thread.

What if you spot a spelling mistake within 10 minutes and want to change it but someone else has posted?

It generally works ok like it is and it is rare we are asked to edit a post for people as far as I know.

It does work, as it is.

Though ten minutes, or ten days, I'll still never spot my glaring clangers until the edit button's vamooshed.

:D

:D

It stops people deleting their posts when they go off on a "I am leaving and never coming back" pathetic rant only to sneak back in later or when we refuse to delete an account.

Similar things have happened in the past.
