There is a Feathers Inn in Colne Road, Brierfield, but it looks nothing like this one, which clearly seems to be the one in Ludlow as Katex says. It's described as the most handsome Inn in the world (the Ludlow one, not the Brierfield one).

That could be the one Margaret's '1st' talked about (love the way she describes her past husbands... :D).

Not so sure about handsome, but certainly interesting.

Read this about the ghosts ... brrrrrr ... even though I have been known to proclaim don't believe in 'em ... don't fancy a night in Room 211.

Love the one about the 'living ghost' of a scantily dressed girl that can only be seen by men ... mmmm ... that ale must send them to bed with the weirdest of dreams. http://planetsmilies.net/freak-smiley-9427.gif

Hey! I am not even from CLAYTON, but its obvious its not from this area. The main question of course should be:
my dad found a picture in a book of THE FEATHERS HOTEL, whalley road , clayton le moors dated 1965
er ... WHICH book please.

Yer Bob has already asked this, Atarah... but you are right. It has obviously an incorrect caption on this photograph and the publishers ought to be informed.

Still, made for an interesting thread. :)

Yep, the greenery growing outside the Brierfield one is more likely to be smoked than admired :D. I used to live on the street running up the side of it, never been a pub of my choice though :)

The Feathers, Brierfield, it's on the main road and about the last pub in the area

The Feathers, Colne Road, Brierfield:: OS grid SD8436 :: Geograph Britain and Ireland - photograph every grid square!

Re: the feathers hotel

The Feathers is now apparently the last pub in Brierfield. It's described by its only reviewer as "really ruff (sic)".

Re: the feathers hotel

It won't last much longer

There is a Feathers Inn on John Street Briefield, maybe it's been altered, maybe it's a different one.
