Nev, Blackberrys aren't out yet, we went to pick some along the canal the other day and there aren't many ready yet, i reckon it'll be another couple of weeks before they are ready to be picked, we pick them every year and freeze them

There are tons down here in the London area I been getting them since 20th July - there must be a big weather difference - has it been very dry up there?

Best places are flat areas where few trees, reservoir areas etc, areas in woods aren't that good due to lack of rain this year!

We've had a lot of rain, the blackberrys are still tiny and green yet, we did find a couple that where ready but the majority are still green

The Wifey's already made a few jars of Blackberry jam middle of this week & is after heading out to collect more this week-end. I have noticed a vast abundance of fruits & berries this year over here as I travel around, so we'll no doubt be having all kinds of concoctions over the coming months. :)

Sorry this doesn't really help you Nevvy, as we are in Germany.

We used to go up Whinney Hill but that's before the quarry was being filled in....

Have you had any hot days? Weather must be different down here to up there if they are not even ripe yet? :)

the old railway line from accy up through Bash is full of blackberries, we went for a walk last september and picked a bag full in no time.

Jeffry Hill is also good for bilberries ( makes note to get some if possible as I love em)

was going to suggest railway track & jerry hill too. Prospects have nature walks event all this week. Think one is a foraging walk? You'd need to look on their web site for more details

I went up owd railway track on Tuesday, didn't see any berries on the immediate pathway, but you might find some off the beaten track so to speak

I went from Nuttall Street up to Hollins School, silly me was forgetting there's further up than Hollins, I should know I've been from Nuttall St - Holland's Pies a few times now, I must have been having a blonde moment, (except I'm not blonde!)
