Reason to name hurricanes
The practice of naming hurricanes solely after women came to an end in 1978 when men's and women's names were included in the Eastern North Pacific storm lists. In 1979, male and female names were included in lists for the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

Tell me about it:eek: This past week we have had an earthquake, a tornado advisory (not all that bad), a tornado warning (could be real bad), and tonite we are catching the edge of Irene, winds forecast in the 60-70 km/h range. In the Maritime Provinces they are anticipating a 100-100: winds of 100 km/h and 100 mm of rain. To top it off, the storm surge at the coast could be as high as 2m!!!!!!!! What is happening to the world's weather (a tornado in eastern Russia for chrissake) brings to mind that famous observation by a French general in the Franco-Prussian War: "Nous sommes dans un pot de chambre, et nous y-serons emerdes."

Almost right. A hurricane is like a woman because when it comes it's wild and wet; when it leaves it has taken your house, your car, your boat .... ;):D
