Re: Do we turn on the GAS?
I don't think we have much choice, wind and solar power does not work very well. If you look in Africa, in the rich aera's there are very few solar panels as it does not produce enough. As for wind, well....
We are stuck with Nuclear Fission, for the moment. We need gas, if we import it from the east, we stand the chance of being screwed, then there is the environmental aspect as well. Bit of a no brainer really |
Re: Do we turn on the GAS?
we should IMHO use it but there should be a massive non negiotiable condition that not one cubic foot of it is sold outside of UK and teh price should be set so there is no chance of profiteering.
lets protect our own country and give the scientists the time to perfect other methods of producing energy 66 years shoudl be plenty to have nuclear sorted and/or solar to a degree that its useable. I even saw an article of some technology that tapped infra red and a sheet of the stuff ~ 2 foot square was enough to light a bulb. it was flexible as well so easy to utilise. this was also obviously at the start of its development and it will only get more efficient as time goes by. ( imagine an electric car covered in the stuff that recharged itself from the heat of the sun during the day and the heat the earth gives off at night... with the advancement of battery technology, motors and this stuff its really a possibility) |
Re: Do we turn on the GAS?
go for it but dont let british gas anywhere near it and make it government run.Force the big companies to stop conning people and reduce their prices to compete with the government run cheaper gas.
also in america they make fuel from wheat i think it is and we could easily use all the un farmed land thanx to the EU to grow wheat for fuel use only so as not to upset the french farmers instead of subsidizing farmers to do nothing with their land |

Since first post, I've found that the USA is 'Fracking' on a large scale, having discovered massive reserves. There have been NO disasters related to it. Because of this the price of gas in the USA has gone down by 26% since 2006! In the UK it's gone up by 70% in the same period! |
Re: Do we turn on the GAS?
What about a yes if its cheaper option:hidewall::D

Re: Do we turn on the GAS?
Anyway, if those alarmist video clips are right, and occasionally you get gas coming up through the plug hole in your kitchen sink, presumably that won't be metered.
Free gas! I'll make toast on mine. |
Re: Do we turn on the GAS?
Ignore the scaremongers. Drill it. Worst case scenario; West Lancs sinks a little and Blackpool Pleasure Beach becomes a water park.
