Why do you have to pay to phone the club?

If you look on the contact page of the Stanley website to have to pay to phone them. Here is a link contact

Many people get free phone calls included with there mobile/landline but if you phone the club it costs you at least 10p per minute.

Being charged to phone a company is a pet hate of mine and there is no need for it.

Has any of the overseas fans tried to call that number because they dont always work from outside the UK as explained here

Whoever does the club website could do with looking at the contact page using google chrome as there are problems on the page making it look poor.

A business is a business mobile companies, banks, call centres for many other retail/service providers do the same!

I know they do and I dont like any that charge you to call them. Its even more of an insult when you have to phone them to get a problem sorted out that the company caused.

Have you noticed - with the companies that have a number which you have to pay to use - (a) the length of time the music's playing before a word is spoken (b) how often "all their operatives are currently engaged" and (c) how many times you're told that "your call is important" to them

Pet hate of mine as well - especially the Doctor's surgery!

I'm with Neil on this one!

I use this site SAYNOTO0870.COM - Non-Geographical Alternative Telephone Numbers to find alternative numbers when ever I can.
I get free calls on my mobile so don't want to pay to ring someone.

Really... it is a general thread tho, its not just stanley that do it (& shouldnt us customers decide whether to bother ringing it tbh) there is alternative ways but many many many other companies doing it as pointed out - even doctors (but no thread about that & that to me is WORSE as people need to ring it no choice).

Fair comment - thread moved to General Chat.

I always ask for a geographical number when given one of the non-geographical ones as it costs me money to call them.

There's a landline number for Stanley which is one digit different to their fax number. Not sure if I'm allowed to say it on here.

I know there is and most companies have real numbers as well, they just like fleecing us by advertising the expensive number.

Mick requires a signed letter (i assume headed) from the company stating its ok to publish the number. There was an issue a while ago and its how he wants to protect the site.

I have been told that I can't put the Arts Centre's number on here even though it is a public building and accessible online in many places already.
