Do you have a lucky charm
Do you have a lucky charm or a habit which is part of your everyday life, wearing certain cloths or superstitions like always putting your right shoe on first and quirky things like that
Me, I wear a St Christopher medal round my neck, the only time it ever comes of is if I need an Xray, another thing is I nearly always wear black tracksuit bottoms of slacks, when I played Golf I always dressed in all black including golfers hat |
Re: Do you have a lucky charm
Nope.
Same sort of mumbo-jumbo as religion in my book. Though I can understand that human nature means there's a need to try and attempt to alter fate's path, by means of prayer, or rubbing a 'lucky' talisman. Thankfully, not being human, I don't share that need. :D |
Re: Do you have a lucky charm
no

I am not lucky and according to the woman that slap me across the face I have absolutely no charm at all, so, the answer is no, I don't have a lucky charm!

Re: Do you have a lucky charm
Whenever we drive past the Premium Bond place in Blackpool, mum always asks Ernie to pick her numbers. She has won £175 in this month's draw.

Re: Do you have a lucky charm
Whenever I pick my lottery numbers, I have a special ritual that involves half-closing my eyes, humming tunelessly and waving my pen around in the air before marking my numbers at random.
I haven't won yet and I don't half get some funny looks in Tesco. ;) |
Re: Do you have a lucky charm
Here in Italy, in the autumn a lot of older people carry a horse-chestnut (conker) in their pocket -it's said to ward off colds.
Personally, i always have a candle lit in the widow all night on the 31st October. At Xmas i always bring some real evergreen foliage into the house and Mistletoe -to ward off illness. It also signifies the end of the cycle of the seasons. I am a follower of the Cult of Nature... |

I used to have a very lucky "Tigers Eye stone", but I lost it.

Re: Do you have a lucky charm
Not really ... except that I do pick up pennies that I see lying in the street. "See a penny, pick it up. All the day, you'll have good luck." Doesn't seem to work though. But, I roll the pennies and add them to my regular donations to the Kingston Humane Society.:gooddog:

Re: Do you have a lucky charm
I bought some chestnuts at a supermarket. One fell from the bag into the trolley at the checkout. I was fetched up to believe 'waste not want not' so instead of leaving it in the trolley, it was easier to fling it into my handbag as I was paying for the groceries.
I forgot about it until, soon after, I won £1000 at bingo in Burnley. I seemed to be winning (small amounts) more often and within months I won £9000 in one go! My lucky chestnut stayed put in my handbag until it eventually disintegrated. It had lasted a year. I didn't try replacing it - you can't deliberately conjure up luck like that. |
Re: Do you have a lucky charm
Aww, not that old Chestnut Marge ? :D

Re: Do you have a lucky charm
My Grandmother used to have a lucky Rabbit's foot in her jewellery box -never saw her wear it (it was made into a rather gruesome brooch), I think they used to be quite fashionable at one time.
I always bring back a small bunch of heather from the Lake District on my annual hols (I know you shouldn't really pick it!) -I keep it in a small vase in with my Japanese tea set in the china cabinet. Doesn't seem to bring much luck though... |
Re: Do you have a lucky charm
I don't have a lucky charm, but my lucky number is 10. This is because I was born on the 10th and J is the 10th letter of the alphabet - it hasn't actually proven to be lucky, but I can't abandon it yet - you never know!

"Luck" such as winning the lottery is completely random and happens to very few - a lot of money isn't the solution to certain problems anyway. By the way I won 15 euros on my birthday with a scratch card but it didn't change my life! |

Groove thinks Jaysay would need more than a lucky charm to beat him at golf.

Re: Do you have a lucky charm
Yes I have a lucky charm. 19 years ago I spent 8 months in the Christie Hospital with Leukaemia. I am still here to tell the tale because a have a small furry hedgehog which the Hospital sold to raise funds, in my car.. This has been in every car I have had since then. It is in the front passenger side near the windscreen, and looks after me..
