Could have been worse, could have been a book about cannibals.
Then what would you have done with the stuffing for his Christmas dinner?

Re: Best ever Xmas present....

The best gift I ever gave was not a Christmas gift, it was for Mothers Day.
I had taken Ma out to visit my sister in Oz. As you all know, I am an inveterate journal writer.
I documented where we went on our six week trip. The things we did, took pictures.
Wrote about it all.
Then when we came back I started to put all the pictures onto Disk for Ma to look at.
Mothers Day was coming and I didn't quite know what to get for Ma......so I asked her....she couldn't think of anything at all....then one day she phoned me and said she had been in Oz all afternoon - she had been looking at the pictures on the TV.
An idea was born. I would print out my journal entries and add photo's and make it into a book. It took quite a bit of doing........I kept messing it up(I was less computer literate then.........it must be 7 or 8 years ago) but eventually my book was finished.
Ma was thrilled with it. Even now she goes through it on a regular basis and she tells me that it gives her great pleasure.
The work that went into this gift was well worth it.

I had two 8mm films. One was my 1st wedding. The other was of my son aged 3 months.
I got them put on a video and gave it to my son - he was delighted to see long deceased relatives, some he never knew and some who he can scarcely remember

PS That was a while back - he intends to convert it to a CD now

15 years old I got one of these

http://goodsound.lv/sharp%20gf4343.jpg

49.99 from debenhams in Blackburn

( I got 50 quid for Xmas that year so it was everything I got that year )

I still had it 15 years later. The cassette door was smahed off, the back all melted from being left in the sun, the tuning bit was mmissing so you had no idea of what freq you were tuned to etc but it still worked despite being completely abused. the same year my best friend back then received absolutley shed loads of stuff ( purple people eater being one of them, he'd broken/lost/ forgotton about them all by Easter.....

goes to show its not how much you spend but what it means that counts

Often it's the personal things where someone has put in some effort which are the best presents -not the exotic or expensive things...:)

Hehe, not me I'm afraid, it was only when I came back from Uni aged 19 that I had absolutely any conviction to dance^H^H^H^H^H make a fool of myself by dancing and that would never be in full public view....

I'm thinkin' about it ... trouble is all I can come up with is an Oscar Wilde quote:eek: Maybe I'd like the monkey's paw .... there again maybe not:D I believe I'll think along the lines of a gift for someone else .... I know it sounds corny but I really have always got more pleasure from giving gifts, rather than from receiving them. And I don't believe I'm alone in that.

I have Santa's Canadian address: Santa,

North Pole

HOH OHO (I think this is the official postal code for Santa):)

You are not alone -i like buying pressies too, it's hard to be original though and these days my sons always just want money and i only have one child to buy for and she has (literally) everything!

Last year I actually bought and wrapped some stuff up for myself - how sad is that...:o perhaps i'll try writing to the address you cite above.:D

Awww .... about six years ago, when I was going thru a rough time, all I got for Christmas were two cards: one from my ex, and one from a furniture store where I had bought a bunch of stuff:(

Maybe I'll try the HOH OHO thing too:
