Venetian blinds
When I moved in this flat 9 years ago I put up plastic venetian blinds at the four windows.
I am contemplating replacing them with aluminium venetian ones. I have sent for a Hilarys Blinds brochure. Has anyone here used that firm? Are they very expensive and are they good value for money? frank opinions appreciated. Alternateively, if you have got venetian blinds from some other firm, I would like their name and your opinions on their blinds too. |

Re: Venetian blinds
Why go from plastic to aluminium? Aluminium might be easier to kink when cleaning them and the coat could scratch through. Perhaps someone knows if there are advantages?

I guess you are going for a firm like Hillarys bcause you need them made to measure and/or fitted for you. However if they are standard size and you can get someone to fit them for you try Dunelm Mill's website which has a range of both aluminium and wooden blinds at reasonable prices and they will deliver. |
Re: Venetian blinds
I have had aluminium ones at a house I owned in the past. The slats are bigger and so are less cumbersome to dust.
Narrow slat plastic ones bend easily when you try to wipe them in situ, and as years have passed they are getting brittle. These plastic ones have seen me through 9 years and were Glynn Webb cheapos, trimmed and fitted by me. I once was fit enough to take them down and soak them at least once a year. Now I don't have a bath to soak them in they are bothersome. PS just seen your post Susie - will look for their website - thanks |

If the layout of your flat is the same as mine, shutting yourself in the living room won't work. |
