Nah I want one that is sturdy!

Maybe like an old one that kinda antique.

Has anyone been to that shop across from Tesco garage on the corner is it Kerr's Carpentry?

They're pretty sturdy in my opinion, I've got about a dozen bookcase from IKEA, but the problem is that there isn't a store that is close to Accrington. We go to the one at Warrington, which is pretty easy down the M6 from Lancaster for us.

The one at Ashton under lyne is nearer.

It's not Kerrs anymore he shut shop couple yrs back & retired, it became a 2nd hand shop, not sure if its still open. Have a look in arcade, the furniture shop in there has diff items all the time.

Maybe for you in Accy but not from Morecambe. Anyway we could find our way round the Warrington one blindfold, we've been there so often!

In the past few years I have bought solid wood (ready assembled not flatpack) furniture on line delivered free -
sideboard, table and chairs, desk, bookcase and lamp tables.

There are many online retailers buying in bulk and selling cheap.
The competition is fierce and bargains are plentiful.

Have you tried the Furniture Emporium in Oswaldtwiste heth.
They have some good solid furniture there, we have had a big long sideboard for the hall way. It takes two men to move it so in my mind they are solid.

They have a good stock in and if there is anything in you want they will usually deliver pretty quickly.

Hmmm,

devils advocate but in other threads we complain about not having local shops and how they have shut down yet here we are recommending people travel to M/cr for Ikea or online places.

Theres a 50's/60's furniture warehouse in Haslingden just off the bypass if s/h is OK. You could also try Maundy' new furniture store in what was Platts on Abbey street. If you want new there is the bed place at the bottom of Grange lane who will no doubt be able to source a pine one from his suppliers.

Well I have been to the one at the bottom of Grange Lane today and hopefully they have what I want in stock just need my bro's opinion as he is buying it with me.

They seem quite reasonable and he informed me that they deliver ready made for free which I thought were decent enough.

Thanks to all the replies and suggestions. :)

If you can't find one I suggest that you trawl the second hand shops, I'm sure you'll come across one.
I still have the one my grandad made from tea chests because he had no money when he married my grandma in the 1920s (well my daughter has it at the moment).
I did buy a very nice walnut finish Hygeina unit from Argos a few months ago which is extremely sturdy and involved minimal assembly.
