Fractured tibia healing time etc

So maybe it's time to give up playing football at last? Picked up a spiral fracture of lower right tibia last night just turning on astro turf. Now in pot from toe to knee. So two questions follow.
1: has anyone else had a similar break and how long before you were out of plaster?
2: do airlines let people fly with pots on their legs these days?

Did you not ask the doc?

Mine was 6 weeks in plaster. There used to be a problem - one of my chaps had to have the cast cut open before he was allowed to fly US to UK but that was quite a while ago. Check with the airline and your doctor. Don't rely upon amateur advice

Seems to be OK - I googled airline plaster cast, start here with the answers...

Can I travel on a plane if I have a plaster cast? - Health questions - NHS Choices

On a plane you won't be allocated a seat next to an emergency exit, even though you need the extra leg room that those seats have.

The logic of that was explained to me by a BA employee - those seats need to be occupied by able bodied persons to ensure that evacuation procedures aren't slowed down by any disability.

I spoke to three of the medics attending who all seemed kind of vague and contradictory. One said three months another, six weeks. I just wanted a little anecdotal experiences to give me hope about getting back to work, going on holiday etc.

Oh dear if you're off work that gives you more time to beat me in the quiz...:rolleyes:

Seriously, hope it heals up soon and doesn't inconvenience you too much.

It is a damn long time since I did any othopaedics and I honestly can't remember.......but if you really want to know, try and pin down one of these medics to be a bit more precise.
Maybe they can't tell you just yet......surely you will have to go back to Fracture clinic and be re-x rayed....maybe they will be able to give you a better idea then.

As for the flying......contact the company that you are flying with, they will be able to give you definitive advice.

Healing time will be influenced by -
..your general state of health
..your diet
..some medications

So no doctor will be able to give you accurate info.

Well your average is better than mine for the days you've played this month and my score today was abysmal. Also can't seem to break my duck with a win this month!

I have been retired for almost 10 years and I can't say I have been bored.....in fact, I don't quite know how I found the time to go to work.
I think I am busier now than I have ever been.

You would have been better diving on the floor and getting carpet burns like you use to do.
