Re: best chippy ?????
Church st chippy is good as is Abbey Friar on abbey st, both just do good fish and chips.
Also Abbey Frair won chippy of the year not long ago. |

He said he had been to Clayton street for his tea and the queue was still as long as it used to be even though it has changed hands. When I used it on a regular basis the queue would be round the corner a quarter of an hour before opening. |

it will now be under the first set of pumps nearest to Plantation St. The owners did live somewhere up Manchester Rd, when the firemans strike was on in the 1970's, he would pull up on his way home, and give the lads on the picket loads of fish & chips. Retlaw. |
Re: best chippy ?????
Yes it was Neville and Jean
|
Hard to choose between Abbey Friar, the one at West End on main road and Clayton Street Harwood. Someone choosing York St was a surprise to me. To me that's one of the worst

I'm sure Jean and Neville ran the chippy on Marsden Street before they moved to Abbey Street.

clayton street chippy in harwood was fantastic the last time i went but that was about 2 years ago and was the same people who had it 10 years ago. They make their own pies and puddings and i would often travel from accy to harwood for their food especially the gravy which was also made from scratch |
Re: best chippy ?????
It was most certainly one of the best, in the past. Did they change hands at some point?. It was awarded best chippy at some point too. It always seemed to be a good chippy even when I was at school hehe. But been a few times lately and been disappointed.
