Exploding Washing Machine Doors?
 

I just saw an article in the newspaper about 50 people have had their washing machine door shatter and explode while the machine is running.

Sounds very dangerous - has anyone had this problem?

Nah we got a Bosch n its been fine.

Bit like a car wndscreen shattering when hit by a stone. As the article says, could be caused by a zip or buckle hitting the door. Probably making the glass with more stress in it than previous, might account for the glass shattering when not in use.

Seem to remember some, many years ago reported in the paper and recalled for that.

I posted it coz I'm on the verge of getting a new washing machine and I want to avoid one that may have this problem - if it happens it's bad news.

Cheers for that but Which magazine are doing an investigation I think i'll wait for that to come out before I make a choice! ;)

Here is a tip.

Keep your plates, pans, knifes, forks, cups and saucers seperate from your socks, shirts, towels and underpants.

That way you are unlikely to get an exploding door.

To be honest you can't go wrong with Which, probably the best product survey going in every field, I used to get the Mag every publication, now I just go on their website
