Greatest Lancastrian?

An online poll to find the Greatest Lancastrian seems to suggest a strong Wigan influence... who gets your vote?

Personally, I supported Mike Harding as I am disgusted that his Radio 2 show is being axed.

Any list that misses off Tony Wilson isn't credible.

Or Stuart Hall.

Or David Lloyd.

I've started another thread, linked to this one. I credited it to Claytoner, so here I apologise, believe it or not, to DJ Ripley. The thread is headed 'Holland's Pies'

I'd put myself forward except, I was born in Cheshire, my Dad was working there for a couple of years before we came home.

I have since forgiven him for putting my Mother through such shame of having a child in a place they couldn't afford a home.

Re: Greatest Lancastrian?

Gordon Burns was born in N.Ireland. And he is a proud Ulsterman. So why he is on the list I do not know.

Gerrard Winstanley? I still don't know what he did for Lancashire.

Others that are missing:-
Dame Mary Peters
Anne Robinson
Phyllis Bone
Jon Culshaw
Red Rum (honourary)

After 400 votes, Fred Dibnah has taken a commanding lead in the Greatest Lancastrian poll.

ToffeeGuy's right - there are some obvious names missing, and some errors. Looks like a Yorkshire company is behind the errors...

James Hargreaves - probably the grandad of the industrial revolution, that gave the world the British Empire!
