Thanks Gordon, very interesting to realise that it has been passed down through the years to frighten children away from deep water. I now remember my mother saying it to me when I think back. I have been corrected though by the one who knows these things, one who cannot be challenged (my wife) that we told our children that it was Johnny Greenteeth not Jenny possible because they were all girls. In the end which name it was it served its purpose and kept them safe.
Found out today that my grandchildren know of him.
