Just Moved Here

Hi everyone! I've just moved to Accrington and very much liking it. Im currently lviing in rented accomodation but hoping to buy my own place very soon.

I've seen a lovely terraced house on Whalley Road up by the hospital- seems a decent error and close to town. Is there anything I should know about the area before I commit? Positive or Negative :).

Thanks for the help!

From Guiseley in Yorkshire so I don't know the area at all

Al the houses on Whalley Rd were high quality when built. Some were built by Hannibal Ramsbottom, after whom Ramsbottom St is named. I no longer live in Acc, but would have thought it an OK area except for traffic by the front door.

My daughter has lived in that area for over 25 years and has had no complaints

Hospital area of town is fine with shops, schools, pubs, Stanley :-) close by. If its that end terrace on the way up its got parking for 3 cars at the side as well.

On the positive side, it's a nice part of town with easy access to town centre and on a bus route so the gritter does tend to go up and down the road in winter. Whether or not it chucks out any grit depends on how much the council has left! On the negative side it is a flippin busy road and trying to cross it at times you takes yer life in yer 'ands! I used to live on Ramsbottom Street with my parents which is a nice quiet little side road just down from the hospital. We liked it very much.

I know this is meant as a joke but as a serious questions what are peoples thoughts of Accrington in general? (trying to be as unbiased as possible).

I moved to Accrington in 1977 when I married an Accrington lad .At tat time ir had a thriving market , and a very busy town centre. Now 36 yrs on I see a weary newish market and a town centre of charity / cheap shops. The people are very friendly .But sadly like many towns , gone down hill.

It may be that where you came from the name Mick isn't very common, it is around here, also describing this guy as weird doesn't narrow it down at all, every Mick I've met is weird!
;)

I'd say mid/late forties. Dark Hair, average build. Doesnt appear to go out the house too often! Has a Mrs and 2 kids! Daughters bf seems a total T*$T. Thats about all I know on the bloke!

Will be quite a common nickname I would have thought, the one I was thinking of, who I think lives around that area, description fits, but he doesn`t have a daughter so it`s not him.

Just think, mad Mick and his daughters boyfriend might not be overly impressed by you either.
After all, you admit to knowing nothing about them but are prepared to give your opinion of them to the WWW without giving them a chance, not really the friendliest of people are you?

Oh I should have said this perception hasnt come from nothing. It is born out of the evil look he always gives me when I'm in the back yard and the daily effing and jeffing that comes out of the house.
