Does anyone know about platt saco lowell at the old globe works?
Does anyone know about the voluntary fire service and old fire engine they had
onsite?

I don't know about the works fire service in later years but in the 50's and early 60's the Bullough's Fire service was housed at the bottom of Fountain Street and the fire engine although secondhand was not all that old. Some of the members of the team were also retained firefighters at Accrington Fire Station and I remember reading in the Observer that the team had come first in some competition or other.
