I bought mine off the health place in the inside market, but I think it is actually sold in the health shops like Holland and Barret, honest it sounds weird, and yes I was apprehensive, but you will try anything when in pain and it works.

I have a bit of arthritis in my knees......i am prescibed Voltarol by the Doc......I only take it when it is really bad other than that.....walking and swimming. I couldn't stand codliver oil.....though my husband says it does him good......even the tastless stuff repeats on me.

I've got an arthritic shoulder, got very painful at one time. I started on Glucosamine with Chondroitin (apparently the two work best together). It does seem to have worked - I have very little trouble now, and if it does play up, I go back on the G & C (as well as the G & T) and it clears up.

Devils Claw is supposed to help too, but I haven't used that much.

If you are on Voltarol, see if you can get it as Arthrotec. as it has a gastric buffer and will cause less damage to your gut.

Thanks for that Pendy......I don't take my Voltarol that regularly......certainly not the 3 times a day anyway......I try to use paracetamol for the minor discomfort, but if it gets bad I resort to the the Voltarol (always with food) for a couple of days and I am luckyI haven't had any gastric problems.

Mason's Dog Oil is available from Holland and Barret and is a mixture of Rape Seed Oil (the stuff they use to make margarine) and Petroleum Jelly. It is made in Littleborough, Lancs and is one of those curious hangovers from the self-help school of medicine which was popular before the advent of the NHS. I would guess that any benefit derived from using this product probably comes more from massaging the affected part than it does from the ingredients.

Yuk! Now I know why I don't each margarine ......

Arthritis is a combination usually of inflammation and the drying up of the synovial fluid within a joint. Muscles will respond to massage, arthritis will not. Stick to the glucosamine, because that works internally, and while you're waiting, keep on taking the tablets ..... When arthritis gets to a critical stage, joint replacement is really the only way forward, but be warned that hip replacements have a potential life of up to 10 years, before they need to be revised. (Used to work in Orthopaedics.)

That should have been "eat" margarine. I obviously don't eat much fish, either!

i had a ceramic one ,i think they are supposed to be a bit better ,but the difference now is unbelievable,
