help needed on some names!!!
 

:confused: hi there all, my name is paul and im from kent, recently my dear old nan past away. and me, my mum, and uncle was looking through some very very old photos, (i dont have them at the moment) but at the bottom of the first one it says, A.Greenwood, Blackburn road, Accrington, and on the second it said J.Harrison,abbey street, Accrington mmm ??? :rolleyes: my mum and uncle have no clues as to who they are and would love any info that someone may have !! or could you put me on the right tracks on how to find out about these people as my uncle wants to biuld up from the first photo's to all the latest, i cant really give a date, but i would guess at around 100 to 150 years ago. maybe nans and grandads up there could throw some light on this matter. well i hope i get some reaction soon and happy new year to all. :engsmil:
oh sorry and my nan was called lucy knight, her daughter is susan night, and son is called peter knight. many thanks.
photos on the way soon. my nans name b4 marriage was lucy mona mcneill, and her husband was called george henry knight.

I think they are the names of the studios that took the photographs, certainly Greenwoods.

Is there anything on the back to give you a clue as to who they are?

You could post them on here perhaps and someone may recognise them.

Very often people wrote on the back of photographs in pencil. Have a good look for clues.

Have a look at this page it isn’t perfect but it may help you. The image size needs to be about 150kb before you can upload it.

They look great, anyone recognize any of the subjects?

Paul.. if you were to e-mail them to me as a larger file (1 or 2Meg) perhaps I could attempt to clean them up a bit and get better detail.

Here you go Paul; I cleaned them up a bit and I think they look a bit better.

You never know someone may know who they are and perhaps what year they were take.
