Found: wedding photo early 1900s

I am a new member from the USA. A photo in my collection piqued my interest with its lack of subject names <sigh> and nice photographer's stamp: Juttersulf, Accrington.

Groom is dark-haired and might be Italian, bride a vision in pleated gown and flower-covered hat & huge boquet. Photo was purchased in San Jose, California, in 1997, if that clue helps.

I am wondering if anybody can help identify the bride & groom. There isn't much to go on, but I'll happily scan the thing if anyone would like to give it a go.

Should anybody be able to identify the couple as their ancestors, I will happily send the photo to them and keep only a scan. It would be a thrill to reunite it with family members.

Hi Marjorie. Could you not scan the photograph and post it here as an attachment?

The more clues there are the greater the chance of someone here perhaps putting a name or names to your photograph.:)

Hmm...the 'Italian' bit is interesting. I can't see many I-ties hanging around turn-of-the-century Accy. As far as I'm aware, there were no Pizza takeaway's around at the time & the nearest to a nice bottle of Chianti would have been half of best mild. Even waiting for the sun to emerge from behind the rain clouds would have been a waste of time, because if it did no one could see it because of the mill chimney smoke. No wonder he went west.

I suspect the dark 'Italian' may instead have been a local coal miner; they did not have pit top showers in those days.
