i used to go it earnest street school and was there the year they closed it down. did you go there too.

I went to Earnest St Infant school. I left in 1975. I was taught by Mrs Ogilvy and Miss Rostron. Don't know if they were still there when you were, as I am a bit older than you.

I went to Ernest Street Baptist School in the late 40's (oh oh! I'm letting my age slip now). The entrance was in Chapel Street (I think), and I hated it so much I ran home a couple of times (we lived in Henry Street, which is less than a hundred yards away).

Can't remember the teachers, only how much I hated it. I went to St. JKames (Church Kirk) after that. And that was OK.

i cant remember the names of the teachers. i remember the caretakers name. he was mr hargreaves i think. i will ask my mum she will remember. i loved it there. i lived at walmsley close at the time so i literaly walked out of school and i was home. if i remember right it closed in 81 or 82 and most of us went to st nicholas school. that was a cracking school aswell.
