walsh's and hargreaves and mcIntosh's from altham and enfield

can i post a request for altham and enfield and clayton le moors on this forum??? I am trying to find any info on the above families who lived around sykeside drive area of altham in 1841 census. Is anyone out there connected to these families-oh and i could include the Law family. They lived in Huncoat. Desperately trying to find the whereabouts of john mcintosh after 1838 /1837 in altham after he married mary walsh at altham church.

I have had a quick look at 'History of Clayton le moors ' by Trappes-Lomas (1926) No Mcintosh references in index. Some Hargreaves of 17th century, a Walsh of Aughton near Ormskirk.who is connected to Grimshaw. There has work been done on Altham burials by the late Jack Broderick. Accrington Library is the place to look.

thanks bob-think ive heard your name before-are you member of lfhs-i work at colne library. I have ordered ainsworths book on altham and huncoat too-and some info on the moorfield pit disaster as two of my mcintosh's were injured/killed in that. But still no sign of john Mcintosh as yet. Thanks for that anyway-appreciate your reply.

Re: walsh's and hargreaves and mcIntosh's from altham and enfield

just remembered that at times my walsh's worked or lived at altham hall-probably the farm or maybe as servants or staff-one of their children was down as born there-probably the farm cottages maybe-not sure. Would there be somewhere something to say who they had as staff-maybe in 1860 ish-will look on the 1861 census in more detail i think but could there be any other way to find something. Or maybe get pics of staff ??? Am desperate also to find out what happened to the sons of john walsh and margaret smith who lived in altham in 1851 and 1861-married in st peters burnley in about 1840. Andrew and william have disappeared after 1871.
sorry its mixed up -think i need to go to bed and rest my eyes.
cheers
shirley
