Yes I do remember Janette she was a lovely person and a very good freind of a lovely lady who also died of the same illness Stella Smith.
I also knew John grantham and I was unaware he had died..that is so sad I remember when the daughter died and having a conversation with him about bringing up the grandchild that was a lot of years ago now and I have wondered how that all panned out..that child will be getting on a bit now..I was married to a guy whos mum and her husband ran the social club but sadly Wendy died again of cancer about 4 years back..she was a smashing mum in law.
On a lighter note I knew Mick Morgan we used to call him the mayor of Brookside..and to the person whos dad is a planner ,was he a planner at brockhall.. was he called John by any chance and had been in a group many years ago..Linda

here i go again bringing back an old thread :D unfortunately mick morgan is my uncle (married my mums sister) my mum and aunt and my dad all used to work there too....colleen morgan, maralynne mclean(sillitoe) albert sillitoe, lesley marsden (walmsley) rodger walmsley and peela who used to live on brookside, i know quite a few of them

I know Its an Accy forum, but there was an hell of a lot of people who worked there from Accy.

I worked in the Staff kitchen from 1959-1960 under the notorious Mr. Jungbluth, Paddy Doyle, Davy jones and Harry Buckley(the nicest guy I ever worked with, so helpful) I was 16 and worked an 11hr day from 6am-5pm, Mon-Friday, and Sat. am, 6am?-12 noon. I transferred to the Nursing side as a Cadet Nurse(mr Jungbluth probs.) and when Iwas 17 went on Ivywood where I really enjoyed myself.

Can anyone help!! My uncle (whom i have only just found out about) was instituionalised in Brockhall Hospital as a child. Around 1945ish and lived there till his death in 2004, aged 65years. His name was Henry Collier. Does anyone remember him, i have found one picture of him in his later life and he was quite tall, good build, dark hair and looked a really nice man. i know very little about him or why he was sent there, how can i get any more information about him? also does anyone know where inmates were moved to in 1994 when the hospitaal was closed or how i can find that out? i am his next living relative, so i have next of kin rights i assume to his records, i just don't know how to go about finding them. did any staff remember him? i only wish i'd know 3 years ago so that i could have visited him.

Thankyou for responding. i know he died 3 years ago, really sad that a child was put 'away' and forgot about for almost 60years, i really want to find out why and when he was put 'away'. by distant family rumours i'm told that really there was nothing wrong with him and he didn't need to be hospitalised. very frustrating indeed!

Is there anyone out there who knows anything about a man Tom Hindle. He worked att Brokhall Hospital 1954-1955 maybe longer. He will be about 75 years old now. He lived in Blackburn. My mother, born in Denmark worked there at the same time. Her name is Inge Petersen. I know that Tom had a friend George Garett there. George's father worked at the gate or entrence to the hospital. Please kontakt me if you know anything about Tom.
