Harold Walsh

Anyone shed any light on where Harold Walsh might tbe.
Born c 1941 and an Ex AGS who lived on Avenue Parade (corner of Alice Street).

Went to work in the Bank on Peel St (now Lloyds) I think it may have been the Savings Bank?

One or two that are showing up in the 192 phone/electoral register in Accrington Accybill .. up to you to decide which is the correct one.

Feel someone will know on here though.

Although I don't look so old, in fact I was born in 1941 and went to St John's before the Grammar school. There was no Harold Walsh in my year (1952) at AGS, so he may have gone to Peel Park and been a 1953 AGS entrant. I will enquire. I haven't got immediate access to the AGS magazines but they are in the library and will show young Walsh if he did attend.
I will come back when I have sosmething to report.

It's me Bob (as you now know) - and he definately went to AGS - he shown on the 1957 photo 8th from the left on the rear row.
Walked to school with him and a few others, not sure of his entry date.

Still, looking young for your age doesn't mean you look good .. not personal Bob.

I knew a Harold Walsh. He lived on Hodder Street, had a disorder that if you didn't speak to him for about ten minuted he fell asleep. He sold his house on Hodder Street and moved into sheltered housing but he died about three/four years ago.

Someone else has confirmed that he died a couple of years ago.

Re: Harold Walsh

Many thanks for the details.
It is sad to hear that he was not a well man and died "in his youth - he would have been only 63/64".
I have good memories of him.
He was one of our crowd who rarely failed to turn up on weekends for a game on the cinders of Stanley's car park (soccer or cricket) - cardboard in the soles of our plimsoles etc.

Not sure if anyone who is a member here also turned up for a game..... some names that I recall:

Eddie Westwell (in Ossie), Brian Baron (in Avenue Pde), Brian South, Joe Young, Ken Duxberry (in Sth Africa), Tony Anderson (IOW), John Anderson (Cal), Brian Hughes (sadly passed away), David Lloyd (a youngster then), Roy Cunningham (passed away), Peter Robinson, Ken Maden, Ken Smith, and quite a few others - names escape me for the moment.
