Help needed

I need a big, big ,big favour from somebody.

Living in France it is impossible to research the electoral roll.

I need the names and address of everyone in Thorneyholme road from the rolls 1965,1966,1966,1967,1968.

My name is Stephen Moon, i left Accy in 85 and have ended up living deep in France.

I know its a big ask but just hoping.

Trying find an old friend but cannot remember surname.

Many Thanks

Accysam aka Steve

Re: Help needed

what about census? I thought they were "onlining" it
( I know its only every 10 years but it may strike lucky on the 61 or 71 survey.)

Alternatively, post what bits you remember and see if anyone else recognises them and can get you more details.

e.g.

lad called Robert, nickname was shorty, had an older sister, used to ride a blue BMX

etc

I think I'm right but aren't census details only released after 100 years? The latest census to become available online is 1911.

You're right, the 1911 census has recently become available online.

If you are still struggling in a few days, Accysam, I will go and take a look for you. Know what it is like when a name escapes you ... drives you bananas.:Banane06::Banane06:

I was brought up on William Street, and had quite a few friends on Thorneyholme Road. For instance, went to school with a girl from this road whose father was a policeman, however, would be approx. 6 years older than the lady you seek. Can only remember her first name .. Jill ...dang, dang .. knew her really well too. :(

Yes, think it was the bottom block, Bernard .. nearest the Cricket Field. They were different in design to the rest of the houses on there.

Well, it looks like you are quite a lot nearer finding this lady than you were at the start of the thread. That's the magic of Accyweb...again!

What's the bet?
I reckon this will turn out similar to the last, 'long lost love', we had on AccyWeb, they meet because of our members efforts, they fall in love all over again, get engaged, marry, the local paper puts out their story and the only mention of AccyWeb and our efforts is,

A LOCAL WEBSITE.

Why don't we cut through all of this, if we get such requests, advise them to talk to the obbo' let them do the work as well as publish the story?

Margaret Pilkington 06-03-2011 18:31

Re: Help needed

Less, not a bad idea....anyway, we all know that the local website is Accyweb!

Yes, we know, but we aren't competing with the local papers, so why don't they mention AccyWeb?
The more people we get the more stories they can use to fill the paper.

It's a two way street, not mentioning us is bad for them, many times they are quoted, a link put in, when it's them that had the source, why can't they admit AccyWeb is here?

Margaret Pilkington 06-03-2011 19:03

Re: Help needed

Maybe they see Accyweb as competition...although it isn't really. Someone should write and ask them.
I'm not volunteering.:)

Let's face it, how many of us could manage using a pen these days?

Remember the old teacher with, I want you to do a composition of 200 words?

It was awful, nowaday's we do that sort of thing without thinking, modern technology, can't beat it.
:D

Sorry, its the wrong girl. The girl i am looking for had no brothers or sisters. She would have been 16 in 1965, . lived in Thorneyholme rd, her dad was a copper so its the far end, she went in the Blue Dahlia, was a friend on an Irish girl from Spring Hill called Florence. i will attach the electoral rolls from 1965 see if it triggers anybody's memory, Thanks everybody, confident that I will get there in the end.
