Hi, Norman died several years ago, as did his brother Edward a few years later, Linda is the only surviving sibling. Linda and I used to babysit for Norman & Pats kids years ago when he lived on Sharples St.

I remember the Parkinson's they used to have a shop on Dale Street. I lived on the corner of Blackburn Road and Grimshaw Street then. I will ask some of my old friends and let you know.
Cheers Littlepom.

Re: parkinsons?

The shop closed after their dad (Walter)died around 1964. It was reconverted into a house. Linda and I were and still are good friends. Littlepom, I feel I must know you!! I used to live on Lower Antley St.
Some of the people from around at time were Mary Kelly, Bernie Raywood, the Dugdales, Ann Worswick, the Flynns, Linda Parkinson, the Spencers, the Haightons, the Brindles. There are lots more but members of these families were more in my age group.

Spencer St is not in the Platts Club area. I think think possibly you mean Steiner St, and yes, I think one of his children lived there. He was on the committee at King St club for many years and raised money for meningitis research as one of his grandchildren suffered from it.

I might know you Phoenix, but I don't recognise you from your photo.

103 Dale St perhaps, as there were Parkies there in 1951. At 24 Sharples St was D P Parkie, a bus inspector

Norman,Eddie and Linda Parkinson lived at 100 Dale St, the same block as the side window of the Langs Arms.
Norman moved to Sharples St when he got married. Linda and I used to babysit their kids.
