Paddock House convent school
I attended Paddock House convent school(for young ladies!) from 1946 - 1950/1 and wondered if anyone can tell me if it still exists in Accrington? My name was June Whitby/Phillips and I lived at 410 Blackburn Road.
Remember Sheila Baxter and Rhona Birtwhistle (dentists daughter). Love to speak to any of my classmates still alive! I am 76 this year and live in Sussex now (as far away from that Latin teacher as poss). Got a great education there and enjoyed those years immensely, head girl was Pat ??? my memory fails me but she went on to teach at Notre Dame in Blackburn. |

Quote:
Initially Mount Carmel was on two sites , the Paddock House site and the Holy Family site . When the building in Fern Gore was enlarged Mount Carmel became a single site school . The buildings of the old Paddock House School were demolished . The Paddock House Convent continued for a number of years until the nuns left to work elsewhere . The Convent was demolished . There is housing now on the sites of the school and the convent |
