Scanner needed urgent
 

Tonight or first thing in morning

USB scanner.... Buy , Beg, Steal or Borrow
Or scanner user with an hr to spare

Have just got our old scanner out and its an AFGA snapscan which seems is not compatible with winxp and 4 pooters in the house all have..... so scanner in bin but have some pics need scanning before the match tommorow.. 20 pics to scan... i then have loads more but these 20 need urgent..

Photograph em, you get results just as good but if you really want a scanner you can borrow mine, just have to find the drivers and its not installed on my PC I haven't used it for ages

yeagh I thought to photograph them but wasn't sure of the results.. I may give it a go.. but it needs daylight for that rather than artificial light IMHO

True but if you use plenty of lighting in the room but not shining on the photo as to get reflections, shoot in raw and you can adjust the white balance to get it right, found the drivers anyway if you want the scanner

To be honest if you want it I'll have a word with Chris and you could have it for £45 ono, it's 3 months old, never used it as got another from my bro........

why do you think teh old one was incompatible, 90% of scanners use a standard TWAIN driver. GIMP/photoshop will talk to them via that.

Even if XP winges teh drivers aren't compatible I've yet to com eacross something taht didn't actually work

ian... it says on afga website that its not compat with xp ...so julie tels me.. she looked it up :) cus we couldnt get it owrking

Fair enough, agfas own problem for ignoring teh standardised format that TWAIN offers( I can never understand why companies do this sort of thing)

I know the problem. I brought my Agfa Snapscan scanner from England and I admit that it was carting on a bit but when I upgraded my computer the flippin´thing wouldn´t work. I tried downloading patches and such but ended up passing it on to a wise guy who knows everything!

Being a wise guy that knows nowt, it ended up in the bin!!

well i have the scanner now.. but no usb .. i have lots of usb cables and extensions but not one with a big square thing on the end...sigh :( anyone ?

I thought I had the right one ...but mine are different..

Need prior to game as gotta scan some pics before handing over at game... I can pop over in morning.. what time ya up?... hehe ya dont need to come out this late :)

we ahve a silly billy in our midsts and his name is kipax...

just been talking to mick ..yeagh the one on here and it dawned on me when i accidently wrote printer instead of scanner... i ahve a lead right next to me...

All sorted thanks... karenfaz lent me hers as long as i need it and mick very nicely got me a usb cable from uptown this morning.. for which I owe him a pint at least :) even dropped it off..
