Wanted: Free PC for good cause

They say if you don't ask you don't get so here is me asking.

I want a PC to replace the really old and slow Pentium 3 700Mhz machine that is currently uploading music to AccyWeb radio.

Since I added the website that allows you to select your own music the Pentium 3 machine is struggling to cope - don't laugh it does quite well really.

I am after something like an Intel Pentium 4 machine that someone might not be using any more. It has to be smallish so a desktop case would be ideal. Something like an old Dell/Compaq/HP office type machine is what I have been looking for. They go cheap on ebay but the postage is often more than the PC which bugs the hell out of me as non are local enough to collect.

I don't mind if there is a problem with it that I may be able to sort out. It does not need a hard drive or a CD/DVD either as I can add these myself.

I just want the PC itself, not bothered really about keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Thanks for the offer Derek but I don't have the rest of the equipment to build a PC up around a Pentium 4 chip. I will keep it in mind though if anything else crops up and I could make use of it. Thanks again.

I will keep that in mind thanks mate. I had really been looking at even cheaper units because of why I want it. Things like this Dell Optiplex GX280 Intel P 4 HT - 2.80Ghz Desktop PC on eBay, also, Desktop PCs, Computing (end time 22-Oct-08 12:13:42 BST)

Almost identical to what I got my daughter a couple of months ago, I paid £21. Usually find they crop up cheap enough if you are patient. I tend to stick to ones I can go and pick up to save the postage, otherwise you pay twice the price.
