Wanted - Bespoke computer

Tentative enquiery as I am waiitng for a grant that has been passed to come through..

I need a high spec desktop computer but i will need a reciept/invoice whatever

Desktop
Highest memory possible
Best spec processor possible.
Built in firewire card reader
Hi spec monitor

Its for photo work as you can imagine.. like any computer I have had in the last 20 years it wont be running games.

Want one set to spec rather than off the shelf..

When you buy a Dell on-line, you can decide which parts are put in it

I would thought that as most photo people you would be looking at MAC for this.

If you want to stay 'PC' then you are probably looking at multi processor setup. Be careful with Gfx cards as teh most expensive will probably be more geared for gaming than for what you want which will be colour accuracy etc. I would be asking this on teh photography forums TBH as they will have much more experience and advice in this matter.

Monitors - make sure you budget for teh colour calibration tools as these can themselves be a few hundred quid on their own.

RAM, I would reckon 16 gig should be plenty :D

You also should spend some time playing with Gfx tablets as again this is probably going to be needed and is another thing that can cost a lot more than you think.

Hello, Mr K-P, Sir. Have you ever seen Eizo Monitors in action. I saw them in use at Focus on Imaging exhibition at the NEC a couple of years ago. I have been having lustful thoughts ever since.

PS... It's big & it's white. If the local rag has you covering Accy CC versus Rishton CC on Sunday, you can play with mine.

We use them at work for proof checking colour.
