Wood offcuts : any free going to waste ?

Hi I am looking for some free wood offcuts ( that I could use to strengthen a collapsed frame under a settee ). I can collect in local area . Any clean wood left over from DIY/renovation would be ideal. Thanks in anticipation

Go to most timber yards and they'll let you cut off the length you need as long as you leave a decent piece. Only cost you a few bob.
Then you can pick the size you want instead of making do.
