Queen's ambitions.

In this week's Observer there is a full page of photographs of young women who'd like to be Accrington Carnival Queen.

I'm not deriding these girls for doing it as it's a bit of fun, and not a full on bathing suit number job, but l was quite shocked at their career ambitions, which is as follows-

1 x glamour model,
1 x doing up her home,
1 x semi-professional snowboarder,
1 x going into the hotel business,
2 x want to own their own hair/nail salons,
1 x wants to own their own gym,
1 x 17 year old Mum who wants to go to college to study public services,
1 x wants to be a model/ dancer,
1 x wants to study public services at college then university then the army.

I supose we should admire their entrepreneuial ambitions. I know this isn't a cross section of young women in Hyndburn but it's a bit sad, no engineers, teachers, nurses, or even any future politicans.

I also think that it's sad. I'm not having a downer on the ambitions of these ladies, but there are more worthwhile things to do in life than glamour modelling. My vote would go to anyone going into nursing or teaching regardless of what they looked like.:)

What exactly is wrong with being a glamour model?

Just because they don't want to go into public services doesn't make them any less of a person.

I wouldn't be a nurse or a teacher for all the tea in China. Too much hassle for too little pay

I have no problem with the "glamour model" one[although they are somewhat stereotyped] but to have your carrer ambition as " doing up your house " is rather odd.

i remember a programme on the tele years ago called 7 up .it was about a group of children aged 7 ,and there was a follow up ,every7 years until they were 28,,,they were asked what their ambitions were at 7,,the posh ones wanted high flying jobs and the poor ones were more down to earth ,one little girl said she wanted to work in woolworths .one little boy said he wanted to own his own business ,both ended up doing what they said.....

Answer, nothing!

I know current fave babe Jody Marsh quite well, a very clever woman.

Sadly most glamour models don't have such a lucrative or long lasting career and many end up in the seedier end of the industry.

Still it pays better than teaching but the holidays aren't as good.

I suspected there was someting strange about you garinda. Now I know there must be - your definition of babe proves it.

My idea of a babe is Glenda Jackson or Lillian Gish, which l suppose makes me even stranger. :)

Jody is just a 'babe' in the Heat Magazine/ Daily Sport school of journalism.

I just applaud anyone with quite a big nose making a career out of wearing a belt!

Re: Queen's ambitions.

Having never read Heat or the Daily Sport I couldn't possibly comment.

Do people really pay money to read that sort of stuff, I mean, on a scale of 1 to 10 where The Sun might just scrape a 2, Heat and Daily Sport must surely be around -5?!

Re: Queen's ambitions.

See previous answer, we get the 'press' we deserve.

The Daily Sport started as the Sunday Sport and is now published daily, and l think is the third most popular daily 'newspaper'!

Obviously we want a daily published nipple count, rather than reading about the forthcoming election.

P.S. The girl who stated her ambition was to be a glamour model was my favourite, which will probably be the kiss of death for her! :)

Why is it that after 35 years of earache over "Wimmin's rights" we have this parade of wannabe bimbo's reverting to stereotype. I feel sure that Ms Dworkin must now be spinning in her grave.

Lol, big grave. Watch out for the earth tremors!

Is it legal in this politically correct age to have competitions open to only one sex?

lf l qualify on the age front l'll go and dig out my cozzy.

My ambition? To be the face of a disease. :)
