Celebrity Status...

Vic Reeves was in court yesterday.

He was MORE THAN THREE TIMES over the drink/drive limit, ploughed his vintage Jaguar into a parked car but "failed to notice," He then drove over a verge and into a fence......BUT STILL DID NOT STOP!

He should have been jailed for his actions but instead got a driving ban and 100 hours "community service"

Maybe I am just a little cynical but would his celebrity status have anything to do with such a light sentence? He can afford a chauffeur driven car and I cannot imagine seeing him cleaning streets as part of his "community service" He is more likely to be asked to give talks and crack a few jokes for various groups!

He says: "I am completely remorseful and penitent" 'OLLOCKS!! Try saying sorry and meaning it!

Various other "celebs" have recently escaped proper justice, a couple that come to mind is Sir Alex Ferguson, caught up in a "speeding wrangle" and Grace Jones who allegedly attacked a rail manager in a drunken rage on a Eurostar train. The train was delayed for 15 minutes before she was escorted off by three British Transport Police Officers.........but no charges are being pressed!

Eurostar says: "We would be delighted to carry Ms Jones again so long as there is no repeat performance."

Now if I tried that................

Do you know of any other famous celebs that have escaped proper justice??

Cherie Booth, QC, was arrested by a railway ticket inspector a few years ago for non poccession of a valid rail ticket. Apparently her excuse was that she was late for a trial over which she was presiding.

She got away without paying the usual penalty fine (never mind a court appearance). Two weeks later the ticket inspector was sacked.

Busman......I think you are right. It is one rule for them and something completely different for the plebs like us.
I would like to see Vic reeves spend his 100 hours community service scooping dog mess from parks and public places (though it shouldn't be there in the first place......but that is anothe of my pet peeves at the moment).

He should really have gone to Jail.

This is a classic....

Annabel Elliot (and husband as passenger) it was reported in the papers on 20th April, was involved in an accident with a B.M.W. in Dorset. Instead of stopping, Mrs. Elliot "done a runner."

Police later traced her to her home where she was given "words of advice" by officers. She was NOT arrested or charged!

So who IS this Mrs Elliot?? I will give you a clue, her sister has just married Prince Charles!!!!
