Moss side.

Has anyone heared about Moss side residents being relocated to certain areas of Accrington? It could explain some of the different accents I hear around the town.

Not only from Moss-Side mate. I have noticed a surprising increase in Estuarine accents too.

I did hear that Burnley Borough Council were involved in some sort of deal to house council tennants from the overcrowded borough of Greater London and the South East. Perhaps our Graham can shed some more light on this subject?

also would explain the jump in crime

muggings and burgularies

although dont be too quick to critisise it as all the extra drug dealers will make it a buyers market so prices will fall fall fall

that was sarcasm by the way

from my experience of living on a coucil estate the only people who get moved on by the council are trouble familys and people who get shifted from one estate to another so the odds are were going to get the worst of moss side and the other areas

not only is our town a collection point for everywhere elses waste rubbish ( via winii hill) our streets are now going to be plagued with everyone elses scum

good old accy the sh1t pit of england just throw your crap in the locals wont mind

Did you read in all the papers just a few weeks back of the whole family that have been banned by the courts from their house? None of the papers reported which area they have been moved to. Accy??

Re: Moss side.

what makes it more of an insult is that there are already people born in this town seeking accomodation yet the council aeasily find some for outsiders

mind you thats standard british procedure

not enough to go around well bring more in

Are these the creatures from Liverpool by any chance?

I know nothing [yes, l hear some of you shout] about an influx of people from Moss Side into our area. It's interesting though to read through old local censuses, apart from a few old families who lived on farmsteads, most of our families came here from other parts of the county/ country as well.

The Mills were a great magnet for a vast influx of migrant workers to this part of the country. Reading the birth places of most of the people listed on the old censuses, people came from Wales, Ireland, Cumberland, all over in fact.

l hope we're not going to turn into Little Hynburners?

Re: Moss side.

 Yes,as Garinda says this area has in the past been a magnet for migrants, but most came to earn a living.I don't know if that's the case at present!
Apparently the area in question is the Barnfield district of Accrington,no doubt Accy Webbers will report of any sightings.

Re: Moss side.

Don't get me wrong, l'm not in favour of a load of social missfits moving into our area, in fact l think l'd like to ship a load of our home grown anti-social missfits to Moss Side. :)

But from someone whose accent isn't exactly broad anymore, l don't want hassle as an outsider' the next time l'm in the pound shop. :)
