My security guard from last year is back,he has taken a year out of his studies in Poland and come over here because he found everyone so pleasant and friendly last year,this year he has brought along 2 friends,both very pleasant lads and all 3 of them want to pay their way while they are here with casual work.
They finally found a house to rent in Clayton and moved in last week,all seemed well until on Saturday a gang of 10 youths broke into the house and proceeded to beat the 3 Polish lads up.These fine examples of British humanity turned up with baseball bats and also stole over £700 of property.My guard was hit round the head with a fire extinguisher and is very concussed,his friend was kicked so hard that his arm is broken,all of them have black eyes and multiple bruises.
The Police are involved and so far the answer to this despicable act is"they don't like strangers round here".
We are talking about Clayton here not the bl**dy Bronx.
I am appalled and embarrassed by what my fellow countrymen have done.These people are here legitimately and are working,not scrounging.
I would ask that anyone who has any information about this crime;which to me seems racially motivated,would call the Police and tell them anything that may help.
It has been a real eye opener today,I really didn't believe that Hyndburn had sunk so low.

Sorry to hear about that Lindsay - seems like they must have had their eyes on them & went prepared. I wonder if it'll be in any of the local papers?

I hope your friend and co will be ok. Lets the police catch those involved. I would not hold your breath though.

It really saddens me to hear things like this. I mean what kind of image does this paint of us as a community. I hope the guys involved recover soon and are not too disillusioned by what has happened, though to be frank who could blame them if they were. What a sad little world we live in sometimes.

I agree lindsay!! its bloody disgusting!!!
And to think that we expect to be able to travel the world without a hassle!!
As a lot of you know i travel with my job, if i thought that getting hospitalised for being in a foriegn country was on the agenda, i'd be a little worried to say the least!
This cuntry really is going to the dogs!!

I can't tell you how appalled myself and all my staff are by this incident,the Polish lad who works for me came into work obviously still concussed,he hadn't seen a doctor or been to hospital as he thought he would have to pay and the scum who beat him and his friends up took everything they had.We sent him to casualty at Accy Vic where there was no doctor on duty and he had to go back 2 hours later!He has been ordered to rest for 48 hours,it says something for the stamina of the lad;if I had been hit with fire extinguisher I certainly wouldn't be turning up for work! He said to me today"These things don't happen often in England,no?"I couldn't look him in the eye.

I have to say Lindsay that I'm not surprised.......there are many houses for rent down Barnes Street in Clayton, and it is like Wild West country. I walked down there yesterday to Mercer Park......there were some really unsavoury looking characters.......it was broad daylight and they looked at me as if to say 'What are you Looking at ?' I felt quite intimidated.
I hope your work Colleague doesn't think we are all like that.......and I hope the Police find the louts who did this vile crime.

I think the letting agency are partly to blame as they obviously offloaded a house in a troubled area to 3 foreign lads who had no idea what the area was like.Last time he was here my friend stayed in Whitewell Bottoms,I don't think down town Krakow prepared him for the welcome he got in Clayton!:mad:

Very doubtful, it seems that anything that is classed as racist, whites attacking asians, asians attacking whites etc. for some reason never makes the local papers, people need to know what is really happening in Hyndburn.

I'm absolutely appalled by this Lindsay. I also hope that the attackers are caught and punished but I'm also cynical enough these days to believe it may not happen.

It's easy enough to blame the letting agency but honestly we shouldn't have "no go" areas for anyone. I really do think it's yet another symptom of the lack of punishment which has bred this yob culture.

Best wishes to those injured for a speedy recovery.

hope the lads are recovering and wouldn't blame them if they thought the worst of us,i endorse what willow said though don't blame the letting agency even a bit.NOWHERE should be no-go we are not living in a war zone,even though sometimes it seems so,lets see if the police are as vigourous as with the public nuisence issue.

I feel disgusted and embarrassed by this, it simply should not have happened! I am shortly moving out of my rented house (two bedroom) which is just off Willows Lane and is in an Asian area. In the 15 months I have lived here, I have felt perfectly safe and have good neighbours!

The rent is £285-00 per month and would be happy to recommend your friends as potential occupants.........

How depressing.

It does seem to be racially motivated and that these lads were targeted.

I think the press coverage about illegal migrants probably fuels idiots like this to protect their patch from outsiders.

Very frightening.

Wish your mates well from all the people of Hyndburn who aren't racist thugs.

Hope they all soon recover and that it doesn't put them off England/Hyndburn forever. Think they need to move out and into a safer area, should probably take Busman up on his offer.

l don't know what others think but l mentioned it to Lindsay at the Stanley tonight.

Wouldn't it be good at the meet up at The Stag on Saturday, if the proceeds of the raffle could be given to these visitors to our area?

I haven't mentioned it to Mez yet, and there may already be another worthy cause already chosen. ln which case l may organise my own whip round.

Apparently as well as being attacked with fire extinguishers, they have also had all their things stolen or damaged.

I'd hate them to think all Lancashire folk are the same as the people that did this.

Yep...we've only had raffles at Christmas & Easter, as I recall.


But just going back to the subject of these young lads getting a beating - I have not read anything in the press about this , as yet. There is an interesting tale in tonights LET about some guy being led from lardys down to Gatty Park to receive his mugging, but nowt else. It does seem to me, that given the facts of the case as outlined by Lyndsey, that this was a deliberatly premeditated action indicating that the Polish lads may well have been known to their assailants. I would have assume therefore that Lancashire's finest are in a position to start slapping on the cuffs..

There has been no mention of the attack in the papers as yet,the Police have again been talking to my friends and are now arranging for a Polish interpreter as their English isn't that great.[the Poles,not the Police!]

It would seem that they are taking the whole thing seriously as the lads were moved out of their house that night because the Police reckoned it would just happen again.Police have said they have had trouble with the youths before which would indicate that they know whothey are.I had to send Peter home again when he turned up for work today as he feels sick when he stands up;he went back to the hospital and i haven't heard from him since.
The lads are moving into a new house next week,hopefully in a more salubrious area!

This is absolutely appalling. I did wonder why houses in Clayton seem to be cheaper than other areas, now I know.

Am all in favour of having a whip round for the lads, it might make up a little for their dreadful treatment by our home-grown thugs.

Hopefully Peter will be back in work tomorrow,I have had an offer of a mobile phone for him to replace the one that got stolen,thanks Len!Also a Polish Hyndburn resident who would be able to translate for the lads if the Police haven't found anyone yet.I will pass onto Peter all your best wishes and assure him that we are not all the same!If any of you regulars are in town the next few days please come and say Hi to Peter!

We can still have a whip-round for them on Saturday and pass on the money to Lindsay on Sunday so she can give it to them...... I know I for one wont begrudge them a few quid if it helps.
